Morning March 12 to Evening March 13, 2270 & ED Year 11, Day 351-356.

As Alex made his way to Kate’s private room before breakfast on the 12th, he had a simple mission on his mind. He had played along with her plans by acting like things were normal in reality for too long in his mind. Part of him wondered if doing so had only emphasized the issues that she had convinced the others needed to be addressed, but it really didn’t matter to Alex at that point. No, as he entered to find her in the middle of changing, he launched right into why he was there, not even caring about her reaction.

“I’m done with the game, plot or lesson that you’re trying to teach me in ED. I don’t care if I have the right answer as to why you made me go through it, but I am officially done following your script.”

“Oh, you think that I wrote the script?” asked Kate, as she continued to change as if nothing had interrupted her.

“Kate, at least give me your attention.”

“No, I don’t think I will. It’s not my time to have yours after all. Hmm, I think that Nicole is who you’re supposed to be kissing first today.”

“That is something completely different from why I am here right now. I get it, I’ve been going back on my word each time I let myself get pulled into a new conflict and I created a real mess of one in Vefreora after rejecting your council. My desire to force Abysses End into a corner-”

“Will lead to them collapsing without any further action on our part in a matter of months at this point. Really, I should say that I expected you to leave Martelli alone for a few more months, if not until we reach tier-8. That way what you just did would have been the signal for us to attack them in full force and cause the collapse to happen in a single day. Now, it is going to be a pitiful show that we will watch play out over the next few months and you’re denying others their satisfaction.”

“Really, things are that bad for them?”

“Yes, you just cut off five percent of their current revenue with that and you had forced them to start liquidating things before that to support the war in Vefreora. Their investors are already in full salvage mode and they’re going to start having issues making payroll if they don’t secure a new source of revenue by this summer.”

“That is almost a full year in ED time. Trust me when I say plenty can change between now and then.”

“Alex, the investors aren’t folding on ED, they are folding on Abysses End. The workshop will fold, and the next day it will open its doors as a new entity after shedding the senior leadership and any financial obligations that they viewed as not worth it.”

“They will ditch all their members that are still under contracts from other games that failed to reach an adequate level in ED a year early.
